When Lafayette arrived in Hartford in 1824, he was given a hero’s welcome and spent most of the day in and on the grounds of the State House. Today, known as Connecticut’s Old State House, the 1796 Federal style building designed by Charles Bulfinch is a museum. Two hundred years after Lafayette first stepped into the building, he will return to the Old State House, and you are invited to join in the fun with the General when the Museum is turned into an old-fashioned public house for a “Tavern Evening with Lafayette.”
